Volume of GDP of Uzbekistan exceeds 100 billion dollars for the first time

6612In 2023, the nominal gross domestic product of the Republic of Uzbekistan increased by 125.6 trillion soums (10.7 billion dollars), reaching a total of 1,192.2 trillion soums (101.6 billion dollars). This information was reported by the Center for Economic Research and Reforms.
According to the report, on July 31, 2024, a meeting was organized in Tashkent with the participation of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and various ministries and agencies of Uzbekistan. During the discussions, it was noted that Uzbekistan's nominal GDP had exceeded 100 billion dollars for the first time.
In January 2024, it was reported that the nominal GDP of Uzbekistan in 2023 was 90.9 billion dollars. Abrorali Mamadjonov, head of the Department of Macroeconomic Indicators and National Accounts of the Statistical Agency, stated that recalculations and further research had shown that the nominal GDP of Uzbekistan reached 1,192.2 trillion soums (101.6 billion dollars).
"Based on the collected data, the size of the informal and hidden economy and its impact on the GDP were estimated by sectors and regions for the years 2017-2023. This analysis allowed us to determine the extent of the unobserved economy in the country and its impact on overall economic activity. As a result of selective statistical observations and calculations, the coverage of macroeconomic indicators such as GDP and GDP per capita was improved, ensuring their compliance with international methodologies,” the report stated.
