Speaking at the Tashkent International Investment Forum, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized that Uzbekistan’s economy continues to grow rapidly and announced that the country’s gross domestic product is expected to exceed $180 billion by the end of 2026.
According to the Head of State, amid sharp changes in the global economy and international capital markets, investors are seeking to invest in countries where their rights and freedoms are reliably protected and where the economy is growing steadily. Therefore, systematic reforms are being carried out in New Uzbekistan to further improve the investment climate.
According to the President, last year the country’s gross domestic product grew by 7.7%, and $43 billion in investment was attracted to the economy. Stability of the national currency was ensured, while international reserves exceeded $70 billion.
“Four years ago, at the first forum, we set the goal of increasing Uzbekistan’s gross domestic product to $100 billion by the end of 2026. Our rapidly growing economy is expected to exceed $180 billion this year,” Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
It was also noted that the country’s international credit rating has been improving year by year. This year, Uzbekistan rose 14 places in the prestigious Index of Economic Freedom and, for the first time, joined the ranks of countries with a “moderately free” economy.
According to the President, these results are clear evidence that Uzbekistan’s economy is entering a stage of new momentum and new opportunities.
Earlier, Shavkat Mirziyoyev said more than $150 billion in foreign investment had been attracted to Uzbekistan in recent years and emphasized that the country is always open to investors ready for equal and mutually beneficial partnership.
