On January 29, Emine Erdoğan, the wife of President of the Republic of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, met with Ziroat Mirziyoyeva, the wife of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, in Ankara. The Anadolu Agency reported.
Emine Erdoğan welcomed her guest at the entrance of the Ankara Palas Museum and gave her a tour of the museum, which features rare artifacts from the Ottoman and Republican periods, including Hereke textiles, Yıldız porcelain, and diplomatic gifts. Head of the National Palaces Administration Yasin Yıldız provided detailed information about the exhibits.
Ziroat Mirziyoyeva expressed particular interest in Anatolian embroidery techniques and said she would like to see products made using such techniques produced in Uzbekistan as well. She also noted that she would be pleased to see Yıldız porcelain exhibited in Uzbekistan.
The first ladies also viewed dolls, porcelain, and ceramic items produced at vocational training institutes at the Ankara Palas Museum. Mirziyoyeva invited instructors from these institutes to Uzbekistan in order to teach the embroidery techniques to Uzbek artisans.
In addition, they reviewed the “Anatolia” collection by designer Özgür Masur, created to mark the 100th anniversary of the Republic.
Emine Erdoğan shared a post about the meeting on her social media accounts.
“I am very pleased to host the wife of the President of Uzbekistan, my dear friend Mrs. Ziroat Mirziyoyeva, in our country. Together, we visited the Ankara Palas Museum and viewed many invaluable heritage items, including manuscripts and printed works, diplomatic gifts, Hereke textiles, and Yıldız porcelain. We then became acquainted with handcrafted products and examples of traditional arts created at our institutes. Culture is the strongest bridge that brings peoples closer together, preserves shared memory, and builds strong ties between nations. I believe this meeting will further strengthen the friendship between Türkiye and Uzbekistan,” the First Lady of Türkiye wrote.
Earlier, as part of an official visit to Ankara, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of the Republic of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan took part in the opening ceremony of the “Uzbekistan” residential complex built by the Uzbek side in Hatay Province.
