2212On March 29, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, together with President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, visited the Abilkhon Kasteev National Museum of Arts in Almaty as part of their cultural program. This was reported by the Presidential Press Service.
The two leaders viewed the works of prominent artists, including Abilkhon Kasteev, the founder of Kazakh fine arts, and Ural Tansykbayev, the renowned Uzbek painter.
“The exhibition was a vivid expression of the rich artistic heritage of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, symbolizing the strong cultural ties between the two fraternal nations,” the report stated.
The presidents also emphasized the importance of further expanding cooperation in the field of art, including organizing joint events and supporting initiatives that promote cultural dialogue.
For reference, Ural Tansykbayev was a distinguished Soviet, Uzbek, and Kazakh artist. Recognized as one of the founders of Uzbekistan’s visual arts, he was awarded the title of People's Artist of the USSR in 1963.
During his artistic career, he studied under Nikolai Rozanov at the Tashkent Art Museum studio from 1923 to 1927. In 1928–1929, he continued his studies with Ivan Goryushkin-Sorokopudov at the Penza Art School. He began participating in exhibitions in 1929, with his works depicting the landscapes and people of Uzbekistan, Central Asia, and Kazakhstan.
In 1938, Tansykbayev created stage decorations for the first Kazakh ballet, *Kalkaman and Mamir*, at the Kazakhstan State Opera and Ballet Theater in Almaty. Between 1952 and 1954, he painted murals for the Uzbek pavilion at the VDNKh exhibition in Moscow. He is widely known for his landscape and monumental artworks.
Tansykbayev made a significant contribution to the development of Uzbek art, and his legacy continues to be appreciated today.
Notably, on March 18, the eldest daughter of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Assistant to the President Saida Mirziyoyeva, also attended the opening ceremony of this retrospective exhibition dedicated to Ural Tansykbayev.
