During the past period of 2025, trade between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan reached $4 billion. This was reported today, November 15, during a closed-door meeting at the Kuksaroy residence between Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev expressed gratitude to Shavkat Mirziyoyev for his invitation to visit Tashkent, as well as for the warm welcome and traditional hospitality.

It was emphasized that this state visit marks a new stage in the history of strategic partnership and alliance relations between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. In preparation for the visit, intergovernmental commission meetings, a business forum, Kazakhstan Medicine Days, screenings of Kazakh films, Astana Days, and a series of cultural events were successfully held in Tashkent.

During this period, bilateral trade reached $4 billion. Both sides aim to increase this figure to $10 billion by expanding mutual trade and substituting imports. Freight volumes are growing, and over 40 weekly flights operate between cities.

In recent years, 6,500 joint ventures have been established, and major projects in priority sectors are underway. To develop industrial cooperation, a project portfolio valued at over $8 billion has been prepared. A joint investment platform has been proposed to implement these projects. Discussions also focused on expanding mutually beneficial cooperation in energy, transport, the chemical industry, agriculture and water management, environmental protection, information technology, and other key sectors.

The importance of strengthening regional ties was emphasized. An agreement was reached to hold the first Council of Regional Leaders in Kazakhstan in 2026. The heads of state also exchanged views on regional and international issues.

For context, on November 14, at the invitation of Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev arrived in Tashkent on a state visit. He became the first foreign head of state to land at the new Tashkent-Humo airport, where an official welcome ceremony and talks between the two leaders were held.
