Uzbekistan and Germany approve partnership agreement on migration

8182A partnership agreement on migration between Uzbekistan and Germany has been approved. The corresponding presidential decree was adopted on March 4.
According to the decree, the Agreement on Comprehensive Partnership in the Field of Migration and Mobility between the Governments of Uzbekistan and the Federal Republic of Germany was ratified. The agreement was signed in Samarkand on September 15, 2024.
The Migration Agency has been designated as the authorized body responsible for the external labor migration aspects of the agreement, while the Ministry of Internal Affairs will oversee the readmission component.
The Cabinet of Ministers and the heads of relevant ministries and departments are tasked with ensuring the proper implementation of the agreement following the established procedures after it enters into force.
In September 2024, German Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz visited Uzbekistan. During the official visit, a Joint Declaration was adopted following negotiations in Samarkand between President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Olaf Scholz. As part of the visit, eight bilateral documents were signed.
