Uzbekistan unregisters from the list of countries where freedom of speech is stifled

9422International non-government organization «Reporters without Borders» published the World Press Freedom Index for 2022. In the rating, 180 countries are divided into good, satisfactory, problematic, complex and very serious categories in terms of freedom of speech.
Uzbekistan improved its index by 24 positions, arising from 157th to 133rd position. Uzbekistan has scored 45.74 points in the world ranking. Thus, Uzbekistan has unregistered from the list of countries where the situation with freedom of speech is very serious, and has joined the ranks of countries where the index is complex.
The rating is based on five indicators: politics, economy, legislation, society, and security.
Uzbekistan is assessed by sub-indicators as follows:
• political – 44.75 points (129 places);
• economic – 35.71 points (123 place);
• legislation – 50.88 points (136 place);
• social – 53.33 (138 place);
• security – 44.03 points (129 place).
The first place in the ranking was taken by Norway (92.65 points). This was followed by Denmark (90.27), Sweden (88.84), Estonia (88.83) and Finland (88.42).
The bottom of the list is occupied by Myanmar (176th), Turkmenistan (177th), Iran (178th), Eritrea (179th) and North Korea (180th). The United States ranked 42nd, Russia was recorded at 155th, and China at 175th on the list.
