Rahmatulla Nurimbetov, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan, arrived in Stockholm on the night of October 16, as reported by the "Dunyo" news agency.

Before his appointment to Sweden, Nurimbetov served as the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan from 2023 to 2024.

At 47 years old, Rahmatulla Nurimbetov is a seasoned diplomat with a distinguished academic background. He graduated from the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies (now Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies), and the National University of Uzbekistan. He holds a Doctorate in Political Sciences.

Nurimbetov began his career at the Institute of Strategic and Interregional Studies under the President of Uzbekistan and has been part of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) since 2003. Throughout his career, he has held various positions within the central office of the Ministry and served in Uzbekistan's embassies in Germany and Spain, eventually rising to the rank of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs. From 2018 to 2024, he also worked as the national coordinator for SCO (Shanghai Cooperation Organization) affairs in Uzbekistan.

Fluent in German, Spanish, and English, Nurimbetov was appointed to succeed Nadir Ganiev, who led the Uzbek Embassy in Sweden from 2022 to 2024.

It is worth noting that earlier this year, Alisher Tukhtaev was appointed as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to Pakistan.
