The position of Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on issues of the World Trade Organization has been introduced

This is stipulated in the decision “On additional measures to accelerate the process of becoming a member of the World Trade Organization of Uzbekistan” signed by Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

According to the document, starting from July 1, 2023, it will be prohibited to develop draft legal documents that do not comply with the rules and norms of the World Trade Organization.

The Ministry of Justice has been tasked with harmonizing the national legislation with the agreements of the World Trade Organization. For this purpose, an additional 5 state units will be allocated from the previously approved state units.

Within the structure of the Ministry of Investments, Industry, and Trade, a special department and 20 other ministries and agencies will be established under the current staff. A. Urunov has been appointed to the position of Special Representative of the President of Uzbekistan on issues of the World Trade Organization and Deputy Chairman of the Inter-Departmental Commission.

One of the main tasks of the Special Representative is to coordinate work on accelerating the process of becoming a member of the World Trade Organization and ensuring the effectiveness of the activities of the responsible ministries and agencies.
