On February 3, the Uzbekistan national futsal team played its quarterfinal match at the Asian Cup. In this encounter, the team coached by Nodir Eliboyev faced Iran and suffered a 4–7 defeat.
Uzbekistan opened the scoring through Ikhtiyor Ropiyev, after which Elbek Tulkhinov added the team’s second goal. However, the Iranian side responded quickly, took control of the game, and scored a total of six goals. Towards the end of the second half, Sunnatilla Jorayev and Muzaffar Akhadjonov reduced the deficit, but it was not enough to level the score. Iran later added a seventh goal. As a result, Uzbekistan lost 4–7 and ended its participation in the tournament.
For reference, Uzbekistan competed in Group C of the Asian Cup, which is being hosted by Indonesia. The team collected four points with one win, one draw, and one defeat, finished second in the group, and advanced to the quarterfinals.
