Uzbekistan sharply increases gold exports

In February of the current year, Uzbekistan significantly increased its gold exports. This is stated in the report of State Statistics Committee.

In just two months, gold worth $2 billion, $361.9 million has been sold. In January, gold sales generated $587 million, and in February, that figure rose to $1,734.6 billion.

Gold became the main export product of Uzbekistan with a share of 57%, which led to a decline in sales of other goods. In addition to gold, goods worth 1 billion 386 million dollars and services worth 348.5 million dollars were exported in January-February.

In two months, Uzbekistan’s total foreign trade turnover amounted to 8 billion, 731.3 million dollars. Of these, 4 billion 96.5 million dollars is included in exports and 4 billion 634.9 million dollars in imports. The balance is 538.4 million dollars.

It should be recalled that the gold and foreign exchange reserves of Uzbekistan as of 1 March amounted to 35 billion 360 dollars. Over the past month, the country’s international reserves have increased by $935.3 million.
