Uzbekistan's Mufti visits Kabul at the invitation of the Taliban

7244On October 23, a delegation of Uzbek religious scholars traveled to Kabul at the official invitation of the Ministry of Guidance, Pilgrimage, and Endowments of the Taliban’s interim government in Afghanistan, as reported by TOLO News.
During the visit, Uzbek clerics, including the chairman of the Office of Muslims of Uzbekistan, Mufti Sheikh Nuriddin Khaliqnazarov, held discussions with Taliban officials on bilateral relations, religious, and educational issues. The delegation also toured Afghanistan’s sacred and historical sites.
Various topics were addressed at the meeting, including strengthening ties between Kabul and Tashkent. Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid noted, "The Uzbek delegation shared information on cultural, religious, and educational advancements in Uzbekistan."
Abdul Salam Hanafi, the administrative deputy to the interim government’s prime minister, emphasized that the visit of Uzbek religious scholars reflects the friendship, close neighborliness, and shared interests of the two nations, paving the way for enhanced cooperation based on mutual principles.
It is noteworthy that in March, Nur Muhammad Saqib, the acting Minister of Hajj and Religious Affairs of Afghanistan’s interim government, met with Mufti Sheikh Nuriddin Khaliqnazarov of Uzbekistan.
