Which foreign language is taught the most in Uzbekistan schools?

10538In the academic year 2021-2022, the Russian language occupied the top spot among the foreign languages which are taught to students in Uzbekistan. This is reported by State Statistics Committee.
According to the report of the Committee, in the 2021-2022 academic year 643,000 pupils were taught Russian. The next place was taken by Karakalpak language - 126,000 students. The Tajik language is among the top three foreign languages taught to the students - 65,000.
In the academic year 2021-2022, 54,000 students were taught Kazakh, 11,000 - Turkmen, and 8,200 – Kyrgyz language.
Despite the country’s emphasis on learning English, the learners of English consist of only 1,500 students.
