Uzbekistan loses to DR Congo as well

Today, June 28, Uzbekistan national team lost 3-1 to DR Congo in the third round of the 2026 World Cup group stage.

The match began well for Uzbekistan. Eldor Shomurodov opened the scoring in the 10th minute. The national team captain found the net with an accurate strike and put his side ahead.

In the second half, DR Congo managed to change the course of the game. Yoane Wissa equalized in the 68th minute.

The African side then increased the pressure, and in the 78th minute, Fiston Mayele scored the decisive goal to put the Democratic Republic of Congo ahead. In the 90+1st minute, Yoane Wissa scored his third goal of the match, sealing the result.

The score did not change in the remaining minutes. Thus, Uzbekistan national team lost 3-1, ended the group stage with a defeat and finished bottom of the group with zero points. The Democratic Republic of Congo advanced to the playoffs through the ranking of the best third-placed teams.
