A new rector is appointed to the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan

Yesterday, on September 29, in accordance with a decision made by the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Uygun Tolkinovich Gafurov assumed the role of rector at the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan. This information was reported by UzA.

Prior to his appointment, Uygun Gafurov held the position of Deputy Chairman of the Office of Muslims of Uzbekistan and served as the rector of the Tashkent Islamic Institute. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in history.

For your reference, it is worth noting that, as of May 25, 2021, and in accordance with a special assignment from President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Muzaffar Komilov, the Head of State's Advisor on Religion and Inter-ethnic Relations, had been simultaneously serving as the acting rector of the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan.
