4697On November 3, the President's decision titled "On measures to further develop the sport of Karate (WKF)" was adopted.
According to the decision, the main directions for the development of the sport of karate (WKF) from 2023 to 2026 have been determined. This includes the implementation of the "Karate for All" program in the regions, allowing people from all walks of life to practice karate. Additionally, the "Kids Karate" project will be launched in kindergartens.
As part of this decision, the National Karate Federation of Uzbekistan will be reorganized into the Uzbekistan Karate (WKF) Association, and regional divisions will be established.
Furthermore, a Para karate department will be set up within the structure of the National Paralympic Committee of Uzbekistan to promote Para karate among people with limited physical abilities and disabilities.
In the period from 2023 to 2026, there are plans to increase the number of permanent karate (WKF) participants to 55,000, including 40,000 for this year. Starting from 2024, there will be various initiatives, including:
- A Karate festival dedicated to World Karate Day on October 7 in all regions of the republic.
- The prestigious "Uzbekistan Open" international karate and Para karate tournament.
- Three-level championships and cups (district/city, regional, and republican) in specified age categories.
- The "Championship of Uzbekistan" among state sports and educational institutions in karate.
The decision also outlines the establishment of the Karate Development Center of Uzbekistan within the framework of the Ministry of Youth Policy and Sports. This center will serve as the primary sports base for training national teams of all age categories.
By March 1, 2024, information on all athletes practicing karate at various locations and participating in competitions will be fully digitized.
Starting from the 2024/2025 academic year, the state order parameters for admission to the bachelor's education course in karate and the master's specialty at the State University of Physical Education and Sports of Uzbekistan will be doubled compared to the current academic year.
