Uzbekistan appoints a new ambassador to Kazakhstan

Bakhtiyor Ibragimov has been appointed as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to Kazakhstan, according to "Dunyo" IA.

The new ambassador, aged 51, graduated from Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies and the Russian Academy of Foreign Trade.

He began his career in 1994 at the central office of the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations of Uzbekistan (now the Ministry of Investments, Industry, and Trade), where he served as a leader, chief specialist, assistant minister, and head of the general department. In 2001, he was assigned to the Embassy of Uzbekistan in the USA as the First Secretary and later as a consultant on trade and economic issues.

Upon returning from his foreign service, Ibragimov worked as a department head in economic structures under the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations, Investments, and Trade, as well as in the Cabinet of Ministers.

He served as the Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates from 2019 to 2022. Additionally, he held positions as Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Deputy Minister of Tourism and Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan. Bakhtiyor Ibragimov succeeds Saidikrom Niyozkhojayev, who served as the Ambassador to Kazakhstan from 2018 to 2024.
