Since April 1 of this year, Uzbekistan has sent 3.9 billion cubic meters of water to Kazakhstan through the Syrdarya. This information was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Water Management and Irrigation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

It is noted that the Minister of Water Management and Irrigation, Nurjon Nurjigitov, reached an agreement with Uzbekistan on the delivery of 3.7 billion cubic meters of water to Kazakhstan through the Syrdarya within six months. The Uzbek side sent the specified amount of water within four months.

By the end of the irrigation period, Uzbekistan is expected to send about 1 billion cubic meters of water to Kazakhstan. It is reported that all these efforts are being implemented to meet the needs of farmers in the southern region of Kazakhstan.

In turn, 3.6 billion cubic meters of water from the lower reaches of the Syrdarya were transferred to the Shardara reservoir in Kazakhstan. This is 950 million cubic meters more than a year ago. Additionally, more than 700 million cubic meters of water were sent to the Qizilqum Canal, and more than 400 million cubic meters to the North Aral Sea.

"Thanks to the negotiations with the neighboring country and our initial agreement on the working schedules of the “Toqtogul” reservoir and the “Bahri-Tojik” reservoir, water is constantly flowing to the Kazakh part of the Dostlik Interstate Canal. At present, 90 cubic meters of water per second are being sent to our country through the canal. This is enough to provide the farmers of the Turkestan region with irrigation water," the report said.
