Uzbekistan surpasses China in number of entrepreneurs in Kazakhstan

10060In Kazakhstan, Uzbek businesses have overtaken Chinese enterprises to become the third-largest group of foreign investors, according to "Data Hub."
As of May 1, 2023, 4,595 Uzbek-owned legal entities were registered in Kazakhstan, marking an increase of 706 entities, or 18%, since the start of the year. The National Statistics Department of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms of the Republic of Kazakhstan reports that the number of Uzbek organizations in the country has grown by 50% since the beginning of the year.
Most Uzbek companies in Kazakhstan are small businesses, with a third involved in trade.
Among the registered Uzbek businesses, 79% are actively operating, which is slightly above the average for the top 10 partner countries and significantly higher than China’s 64%.
For context, Russia holds the top spot with 23,500 legal entities, followed by Turkey with 5,500.
