8940Entrepreneurs in Uzbekistan will soon benefit from a new fee structure for electricity consumption exceeding their contracted limits. A government resolution adopted on December 27, 2024, states that entrepreneurs will now only be charged a fee of 1.2 times the established tariff (a 20% increase) for electricity consumed in excess of the contractual amount if consumption exceeds this limit by 20 percent or more.
According to the resolution, if electricity consumption by any business (excluding household consumers) exceeds the contractual amount by 20% or more during a billing period, the entrepreneur will only pay 1.2 times the regular tariff for the excess electricity.
For example, if an entrepreneur’s contract specifies 100,000 kWh of electricity for the month, they will be charged at the contract rate for up to 120,000 kWh. However, if consumption exceeds 120,000 kWh, the entrepreneur will pay 20% more for the excess electricity consumed.
This measure is in line with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev's statement during an open dialogue with entrepreneurs in Nukus on August 20, 2024. He announced that the base tariff would remain in place even if consumption exceeded the contractual limit by up to 20%, and if consumption exceeded 20%, the fee for the excess would be increased by 20%.
