The Embassy of Uzbekistan gives a strong warning to those who are going to form a battalion of Uzbeks in Russia

Earlier, we reported that the leader of the Uzbek diaspora in the Russian city of Perm urged his compatriots to war in Ukraine to help the official Moscow.

The Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Russian Federation reacted to this situation and warned compatriots not to form volunteer battalions and/or to participate in hostilities on the territory of foreign States, referring to the criminalization of these acts.

“The diplomatic office informs that according to Article 154 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On recruitment”, illegal participation in armed conflicts or military actions in the territory of a foreign state is a crime.  The penalty for such acts is imprisonment for up to 10 years.

The Embassy warns citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan that all persons, without exception, whose participation in the commission of unlawful actions provided for in the above-mentioned article of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan was objectively reported will be brought to criminal responsibility”, - the report said.

The Embassy also called on Uzbek citizens, not to distract propaganda and be careful.
