4108During a meeting in Tashkent on March 15, the Women's Committee of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) recommended Australia as the venue for the 2026 Asian Women's Cup and Uzbekistan for the 2029 Asian Cup.
The final decision is pending as the Football Association of Uzbekistan has yet to submit the necessary documents to the AFC for review.
Notably, Uzbekistan currently stands as the sole candidate for hosting the 2029 Asian Cup.
In February, reports emerged that Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia had withdrawn their bids to host the Asian Cup.
Australia's successful hosting of the World Cup last year, which reportedly boosted the country's economy by around one billion US dollars, makes it a strong contender for hosting the 2026 Asian Cup.
