Uzbekistan sends 200 tons of food aid to Afghanistan

10418Following the instructions of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Uzbekistan has delivered nearly 200 tons of food aid to Afghanistan as a symbol of solidarity and support for the Afghan people on the occasion of Nowruz and the upcoming Ramadan holiday (Eid al-Fitr). The press service of the Surkhandarya regional administration reported this.
The humanitarian cargo, which includes essential food items such as flour, wheat, pasta, vegetable oil, sugar, instant noodles, red beans, and mung beans, was handed over at the Astras company in Hairaton, Balkh region. The ceremony was attended by Ismatilla Ergashev, Special Representative of the President of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan, Ulugbek Kasimov, Governor of Surkhandarya, and officials from the Ministries of Defense, Transport, Construction and Housing and Communal Services, and Foreign Affairs. Governor of Balkh region Muhammad Yusuf Wafo and other Afghan officials were also present.
A bilateral meeting was held in Mazar-i-Sharif to discuss future cooperation, including an exchange of views on the construction of the Imam Bukhari mausoleum in Afghanistan, a project initiated by Uzbekistan.
Afghan authorities expressed their gratitude to the President and people of Uzbekistan for the assistance and conveyed their best wishes for Eid al-Fitr. During the visit, Uzbek officials also reviewed new projects under implementation.
Previously, under President Mirziyoyev's directives, Uzbekistan has provided Afghanistan with humanitarian aid, including free medical examinations, essential food supplies, and medicines.
