A school principal from the Urgut district of Samarkand region has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for drug trafficking. QALAMPIR.UZ has reviewed the official court ruling in the case.

According to the court documents, a man identified as F.Kh., who previously served as the principal of a local school, had already been convicted under Part 3 of Article 168 of the Criminal Code (fraud) and was sentenced to 2 years and 2 months of correctional labor.

In early August 2024, F.Kh. entered into a criminal conspiracy with a local resident identified as Sh.A., who lives in the “Murodqishloq” neighborhood of the Urgut district. The two conspired to distribute a large quantity of opium in the Samarkand region. As part of the plan, Sh.A. obtained 1 kilogram of opium from an unknown individual, with the understanding that payment would be made after the drug was sold. On November 27, 2024, both suspects were apprehended by law enforcement officers while attempting to sell the narcotics for $12,000.

During the court hearing, the former principal partially admitted to the charges. His accomplice, Sh.A., also partially confessed and confirmed the events before the court.

F.Kh. was found guilty under Part 5 of Article 25 and Article 273 of the Criminal Code (illegal preparation, acquisition, storage, and other actions for the purpose of drug trafficking, as well as illegal distribution of narcotic or psychotropic substances) and sentenced to 10 years in prison. Sh.A. received an 11-year prison sentence under the same charges.

It is worth recalling that earlier, in the Kosonsoy district of Namangan region, another individual was arrested for operating a drug laboratory inside his mother-in-law’s apartment.
