10776Three individuals held in Investigative Detention Center No. 11 in Urganch, Khorezm region, have been recommended for surgery. This information was reported by the Human Rights Representative (Ombudsman) of the Oliy Majlis.
It was noted that on September 27, a comprehensive medical examination was conducted in the detention center, where over 150 individuals underwent medical checkups.
Following the examinations, various diagnoses were made: 23 individuals were found to have diabetes, 27 with hypertension, 11 with ischemic heart disease, 5 with gynecological diseases, 15 with neurological conditions, 6 with trauma-related conditions, 18 with dermatovenerological diseases, and 7 with other illnesses.
"Based on the results of the medical examination, one individual was recommended for additional tests, while further medications were prescribed to those receiving outpatient treatment. Additionally, surgery was advised for three individuals," the report states.
It is worth noting that in the first half of this year, 50 staff members from institutions housing individuals with restricted freedom of movement were suspended from their duties, two were held administratively responsible, and employment contracts with three staff members were terminated. In August, the Criminal Code was amended to introduce harsher penalties for cases of torture or other cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment or punishment resulting in death. A draft law introducing these changes has been put up for public discussion.
