The Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan meets the person who was on “Black List” for 21 years during a visit to Afghanistan

19323In Kabul, the Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, Sardor Umurzakov, met with the acting Head of the Afghan Interim Government, Mullah Muhammad Hassan Okhund, to discuss the development of Uzbek-Afghan cooperation.
During the negotiations, the parties discussed issues related to the construction of the Trans-Afghan railway «Termez - Mazari-Sharif – Kabul – Peshavar», as well as the realization of the project «Surkhan-Puli-Khumri».
«The Afghan side expressed its readiness to continue to cooperate in this sphere, and to take an active part in the realization of projects», – said the report of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade.
Afghan side also thanked Uzbekistan for the work done to refurbish the international airport at Mazari-Sharif.
At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to develop a dialogue with a view to accelerating the resolution of all issues related to the further deepening of Uzbek-Afghan cooperation.
For the reference, Mullah Muhammad Hassan Okhund was added to the UN sanctions list in 2001 and has not yet been released.
