4327Saudi Arabia will no longer require meningitis vaccinations for Umrah pilgrims, the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) announced yesterday, February 6.
GACA has issued updated vaccination requirements for Umrah pilgrims traveling to Saudi Arabia. The new directive repeals the previous requirement, which was issued last month and made meningitis vaccination mandatory. It has been sent to airlines operating at all airports in the Kingdom, including private carriers.
Before this announcement, the Saudi Ministry of Health had required all Umrah and Hajj pilgrims, regardless of their visa status, to receive a meningitis vaccine. The vaccine must have been administered within three years of arrival in Saudi Arabia and at least ten days before arrival.
