Two elderly citizens of Uzbekistan fell ill in the transit passenger area of Sharjah International Airport while on their way to Umrah and were rushed to Al Qasimiya Hospital in the Emirate of Sharjah. This was reported by the "Dunyo" News Agency.
As it turned out, Uzbeks had purchased tickets for the flight "Namangan-Sharjah-Medina-Sharjah-Namangan" to perform Umrah on September 26 of this year.
The employees of the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Dubai held negotiations with officials of "Al Qasimiya" Hospital and the law enforcement agencies at Sharjah International Airport to provide consular and legal assistance to these elderly compatriots who found themselves in a difficult situation and to arrange for their return to their homeland.
"As a result, an agreement was reached to waive the $4,400 owed to the hospital and provide the citizens with a free air ticket on the Sharjah-Tashkent route. Thus, they were successfully repatriated," the message stated.
