Fergana fraudster caught taking $1,100 for illegal pilgrimage services (video)

In Fergana City, a person without authorization to arrange Umra pilgrimages was caught taking $1,100 from a brother and sister. The incident was reported by the Fergana Regional Department of Internal Affairs.

The fraudulent activity was uncovered during an operation conducted by the Rapid Search Officers of Fergana City on April 3, 2025. During the operation, the suspect was found in Margilan’s “Zuhra” neighborhood, taking the $1,100 from the siblings under the pretense of arranging their Umra pilgrimage. Witnesses were present at the scene, and the money collected by the suspect was confiscated as material evidence.

Currently, the suspect is facing charges under Article 25 and Article 168, Section 1 of the Criminal Code (Fraud), and preliminary investigative actions are underway.

Previously, cases of unauthorized tour operators misleading citizens about Umra pilgrimage arrangements were reported. Among the largest incidents, “Panorama Airways” and “Gulbakhor Airways” inflicted financial losses of 25 billion UZS on 2,558 victims.
