“Temurlan” in UFC

Interviews

In August, the number of Uzbek athletes fighting in the UFC considered the most prestigious mixed martial arts league in the world, reached three. Ramazon Temirov, known for his exciting fights in various lightweight leagues, caught the attention of UFC matchmakers and debuted in the league in October.

The first fight of 27-year-old Temirov in the organization ended successfully. He knocked out the experienced American Sijay Vergara in the first round by technical knockout. Following this impressive performance, Temirov received a bonus of $50,000, in addition to the $24,000 victory bonus.

Ramazon Temirov told QALAMPIR.UZ that he will soon sign a contract with the UFC for four more fights and face top fighters in the league, as he ranked among the top 20 fighters after his brilliant debut victory.

So, how did Ramazon Temirov enter the UFC? What difficulties did he face along the way?

QALAMPIR.UZ reached out to Temirov with these questions.

It turns out that Ramazon Temirov's transition to the UFC took a considerable amount of time. His last opponent, Sijay Vergara, was initially set to fight Azat Maksum from Kazakhstan. However, due to Maksum's injury, the organizers paired Vergara with Temirov instead.

Moreover, managers are currently monitoring the fights of Azizbek Temirov, Ramazon's brother, and the prospect of the Temirov brothers fighting in the same league has piqued the interest of matchmakers. Consequently, Temirov Jr. may soon find himself in the world’s most prestigious league.

For reference, Ramazon Temirov was born in 1997 in Kashkadarya. Throughout his career, he has fought in renowned leagues such as MPL, Naiza, and Rizin. Although knockouts are less common in the weight class where Temirov competes, he has secured 11 victories by knockout, showcasing his striking power.
