Following the draw for the FIFA U-17 World Cup, the Uzbekistan youth national team has been placed in the same group as Paraguay, Panama, and Ireland. After the ceremony, head coach Islambek Ismailov shared his thoughts on the tournament and the team's opponents.
“All three opponents are considered strong representatives of their region and have qualified for this tournament in a deserving manner. Therefore, we will prepare separately and thoroughly for each match,” said Ismailov.
He noted that Paraguay, as a South American side, is known for its blend of physical strength, discipline, and technical skill. “They never retreat from a fight,” he emphasized. Regarding Panama, he said their football development is progressing year by year in the CONCACAF region. “Their style of play relies on speed, counterattacks, and high pressing,” he added. Ireland, meanwhile, is described as a classic European team with a well-structured and disciplined game.
“Undoubtedly, all the teams in the group are strong. There are no easy opponents at this stage. But as Asian champions, we aim not just to participate in this competition, but to challenge every team, showcase our potential, and proudly defend the name of our country.
Now, we approach each game with in-depth analysis, a clear strategy, and strong mental preparation. We will devote our full attention to studying our opponents, adapting to the climate and environment, and preparing our players mentally and tactically at the highest level. It is an honor for us to raise the national flag on the world stage and bring joy to our football fans,” Ismailov concluded.
As a reminder, the draw for the FIFA U-17 World Cup has been completed. Uzbekistan will kick off its campaign on November 5 against Paraguay, face Ireland on November 8, and wrap up the group stage against Panama on November 11.
