Uzbek citizens in Turkey and those planning to travel there are being urged not to fall for fraudulent job offers. This warning was issued by Uzbekistan's Consulate General in Istanbul.

It was noted that recently, certain fraudsters have been deceiving Uzbek citizens by offering them high-paying jobs in Turkey, often through acquaintances or informal connections. These fraudsters give false promises regarding employment, housing, and legal documentation, putting the victims in difficult situations.

Challenges Faced by Victims of Fraud or Illegal Work Activities:

  • Salaries may be significantly lower than promised or not paid at all.
  • Working conditions could be harsh or unfavorable.
  • Employers may exploit workers illegally or treat them disrespectfully.
  • Engaging in unauthorized work in Turkey may result in deportation or fines.
  • Middlemen may vanish after promising airport pick-up services and taking money.

In such cases, where there are no formal agreements between Uzbek citizens and those offering job opportunities, it becomes exceedingly difficult to hold fraudsters accountable. Foreign nationals intending to work in Turkey must possess a work permit (Çalışma İzni).

Advice for Job Seekers: Citizens are urged to seek employment only through Uzbekistan’s Migration Agency (www.migration.uz) or licensed official agencies. They should avoid traveling illegally, refrain from giving money to unreliable individuals, and request official documentation outlining working conditions, permits, and salaries.

"Protect yourself and your loved ones from fraudsters! Always secure jobs through official channels!" the announcement stated.

Note: Previously, citizens were advised not to take luggage belonging to others at airports during flights between Turkey and Uzbekistan.
