Claims circulating on social media that Uzbek citizens will no longer be deported from Turkey are not true. In reality, the information concerns opportunities to legalize one’s status strictly within existing legal grounds and established procedures.
It has been clarified that liability for staying illegally and for violations of the law remains in force.
According to the explanation, Uzbek citizens working in Turkey without legal status may apply, in accordance with the prescribed procedure, to Turkey’s migration authorities or to the Migration Agency’s representative office in Turkey. In such cases, their status may be legalized without immediate deportation. However, this does not mean that individuals who continue to work illegally and later return to Uzbekistan will be exempt from deportation measures when leaving the country.
For reference, the address of the Migration Agency’s representative office in Istanbul is: Levent Mahallesi, Lale Sk. No. 8, Beşiktaş.
Contact details: +90 553 541 17 17 (Telegram, WhatsApp), +90 212 323 20 37.
It is worth noting that earlier, following the fourth meeting of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan signed a joint statement and a decision on cooperation mechanisms within the framework of a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. The documents also included agreements on cooperation in facilitating migration and the return of citizens to their home country.
