An Uzbek woman who was held captive in Turkey was rescued. This was reported by the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Istanbul.

A 21-year-old citizen from Karshi city appealed to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through the Consulate General, stating that his mother had left for Istanbul four years ago and had not been in contact with him for three years.

"As a result of the investigations, it was determined that Kh.D., born in Karshi in 1982, was in Uşak, Turkey, and had been held against her will by Turkish citizen M.G. since 2020," the report stated.

On August 27 of this year, a swift operation was organized in cooperation with the Consulate General, the representative of Foreign Labor Migration in Istanbul, the Society for the Protection of the Rights of Uzbek Women, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Turkey. As a result, the woman's life and health were not harmed, and she was taken to the Internal Affairs Department of Uşak city.

In accordance with Turkish law, a criminal case was initiated against M.G. for unlawful detention.

"Currently, appropriate measures are being taken to repatriate our compatriot Kh.D. to Uzbekistan. Dear compatriots, please do not risk your safety and well-being by falling for deceitful promises. In case of such a situation, we urge you to contact the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Ankara or the Consulate General in Istanbul," the message reads.

We remind you that earlier it was reported that an Uzbek citizen, who had been in a difficult situation in Mecca, Saudi Arabia since February 2024, was successfully repatriated.
