The investigation into the killing of Uzbek citizen Nigina Sattorova in the middle of a street in Türkiye has been completed. Prosecutors have requested an aggravated life sentence for her husband, Umid Sattorov, who is accused of committing the crime, Turkish local media reported.

The public prosecutor also requested up to 20 years in prison for the second suspect, Orinboy Botirbekov, who was found to have helped the perpetrator.

On August 17 last year, 33-year-old Uzbek citizen Nigina Sattorova was fatally stabbed in the throat by her husband, Umid Sattorov, in the Umraniye district of Istanbul, a metropolis in Türkiye where many Uzbeks live.

The deceased was from Uzbekistan’s Samarkand region and had been temporarily working in Istanbul. She was killed after a dispute with her 35-year-old husband, Umid Sattorov, reportedly caused by jealousy.

During a search operation conducted by Istanbul police, the suspect was detained in Umraniye on August 18, 2025, one day after the incident. Orinboy Botirbekov, originally from Jizzakh region, who is suspected of helping hide the perpetrator, was also detained by police.

After the preliminary investigation was completed, a court ordered the suspects to be held in custody on August 19.
