Suspect in Tashkent club assault arrested in Kazakhstan

15200Akmal Shukurov, who assaulted a citizen during a brawl at a restaurant in Tashkent’s Yakkasaroy district, has been apprehended in Kazakhstan. This was reported by the Tashkent Main Department of Internal Affairs.
The incident occurred on March 16 at around 2:30 AM, when Shukurov, born in 1995, got into an argument with an acquaintance, born in 1985. During the altercation, a third individual, born in 1990, attempted to intervene but was struck by Shukurov, sustaining severe injuries.
The injured man was hospitalized with a diagnosis of “brain injury, torn cheek wound on the right side, and alcohol intoxication.”
Following the incident, Shukurov fled the investigation. He was charged in absentia under Article 277 (Hooliganism) and Article 104 (Intentional Infliction of Severe Bodily Harm) of the Criminal Code, and a pre-trial detention order was issued.
Law enforcement agencies conducted an operation that led to Shukurov’s arrest in Kazakhstan.
"Efforts are currently underway to extradite him to Tashkent," the report states.
As a reminder, the Yakkasaroy District Police Department had previously initiated a criminal case under Article 277 (Hooliganism) of the Criminal Code. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
