6599As part of his visit to Uzbekistan, the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Qjsim-Jomart Tokayev together with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the mausoleums of Sheikh Khavandi Tohur and Tolabi in Tashkent.
Sheikh Khavandi Tohur was a scholar and Sufi who lived in the 14th century and was a follower of the teachings of Ahmed Yassavi. He was remembered by the people as a saint who called people to knowledge and leaders to peace and harmony.
The area around the Sheikh’s mausoleum has become a sacred place. In particular, Tolaby was buried here in the 17th century. This man, also known as Kaldirghochbi, was one of the chief judges of the Kazakh nation and one of the authors of the set of laws “Jeti Jargi”.
These mausoleums located next to each other are another proof that the Uzbek and Kazakh peoples have lived together since time immemorial and are brothers and sisters.
The head of Kazakhstan became acquainted with the history of the mausoleums, and inspected the improvement works.
The Qur’an was recited and prayers were offered.
Kasim-Jomart Tokayev expressed gratitude to the President and people of Uzbekistan for the attention paid to the preservation of the common historical and cultural heritage of the fraternal nations.
