The US Special Envoy for South and Central Asia, Ambassador Sergio Gor, will pay an official visit to Uzbekistan and the Kyrgyz Republic from February 3 to 7. The US Department of State reported this on its official website.
According to the statement, Gor will take part in the B5+1 Business Forum to be held in Bishkek, where he is scheduled to meet with senior business leaders and policymakers from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan (collectively referred to as C5), as well as representatives of major US companies.
It was noted that during high-level discussions, Gor will emphasize the important role of the business community in advancing cooperation between the United States and Central Asia. In addition, he will hold meetings with senior officials in Bishkek and Tashkent to discuss opportunities for further expanding bilateral cooperation.
“The United States remains committed to strengthening economic ties with the Kyrgyz Republic and Uzbekistan, as well as to developing innovative partnerships that contribute to stability and prosperity across the entire region,” the statement said.
Earlier, it was reported that Sergio Gor would serve as co-chair of the newly established US–Uzbekistan Business and Investment Council.
Gor previously visited Uzbekistan on October 25, 2025, together with US Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau. On October 26, the delegation familiarized itself with Uzbekistan’s rich history and culture. Photos released by the US Embassy showed US officials visiting the Center of Islamic Civilization in Tashkent and the Chorsu Bazaar, accompanied by Uzbekistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Bakhtiyor Saidov and US Ambassador to Uzbekistan Jonathan Henick.
On October 27, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s eldest daughter and Head of the Presidential Administration, Saida Mirziyoyeva, met with Sergio Gor. According to her statement, senior representatives of the US administration noted the pace and scale of reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan over the past eight years under President Mirziyoyev’s leadership.
Following this, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the delegation led by Special Envoy Sergio Gor. At the conclusion of the meeting, Gor presented a number of gifts to the Uzbek leader on behalf of former US President Donald Trump.
