US President Donald Trump has invited the leaders of Central Asian countries to participate in a C5+1 format summit, the press service of the President of Kazakhstan reported.
The meeting is scheduled to take place on November 6 in Washington, D.C.
According to the presidential press service, Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev gratefully accepted Trump’s invitation and expressed his support for the policies pursued by the US President.
For reference, the C5+1 format was established in 2015. Since then, the first-ever leaders’ summit under this framework was held on September 19, 2023, attended by US President Joe Biden, Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Kyrgyzstan’s President Sadyr Japarov, Tajikistan’s President Emomali Rahmon, Turkmenistan’s President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, and Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
It is worth noting that earlier, US Congress members Sydney Kamlager-Dove and Bill Huizenga sent a letter to President Donald Trump, urging him to host the C5+1 summit in Washington to mark the 10th anniversary of the diplomatic forum. In their letter, the congressmen emphasized that the forum’s anniversary presents a unique opportunity to strengthen cooperation with Central Asia and advance the United States’ strategic interests in the region in areas such as security, economy, soft power, and governance.
