4956Negotiations between the president of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the president of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rakhmon continued in an expanded structure with the participation of the delegations of the two countries.
Noting with great satisfaction, the great achievements in all areas of multifaceted cooperation, the Uzbekistan leader stated, “Tajikistan is our close neighbor, a faithful friend, a reliable strategic partner tested by time”.
President Mirziyoyev expressed his readiness to further strengthen mutually beneficial and all-around cooperation for the benefit of the countries and peoples.
“In recent years, bilateral cooperation has significantly intensified. Trade turnover increased almost 40 times to 600 million dollars. The number of joint companies has increased tenfold.
Successful outcomes of the latest meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission and the business forum - signing of new agreements and contracts worth 1 billion dollars were noted with satisfaction,” - said a report of the press service under the president’s administration.
It was noted that fruitful relations were established between the capitals of the two countries- Tashkent and Dushanbe, Surkhandarya and Khatlon regions (oblasts), as well as the Tashkent, Fergana, Samarkand, and Sughd regions. The Jizzakh and Sughd regions will also adopt “a road map” on cooperation within the framework of the visit.
The presidents stressed the importance of the economic partnership between the two brotherly countries and the great potential for doubling volumes and nomenclature of trade turnover.
It was noted that on the implementation of the projects in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, textile, leather, pharmaceutical, food, agro-industrial, mining, metallurgical and other industries there are great prospects.
The relevance of implementing projects of interregional and sectoral cooperation through the active use of the potential of the Uzbek-Tajik investment company was emphasized.
Agreements have been reached on strengthening cultural and humanitarian cooperation. The presidents stressed the need to focus on cooperation in science, education, arts, cinema, and tourism. They stated that the development of the intellectual potential and spirituality of young people is a priority.
