4994Overpasses will be constructed at busy intersections along the Tashkent Ring Road. Jamshid Tursunov, Chairman of the Committee of Motorways under the Ministry of Transport, shared this information in an interview with the "Uzbekistan 24" TV channel.
"During his visit to these sites, our esteemed President tasked us with constructing metal overpasses at those intersections after thoroughly studying THAY and the largest traffic intersections in the city within a short period. Of course, we—specialists, together with the governor of Tashkent—will complete the intersections in a short time, enhance our experience, implement new projects, and build new facilities for our citizens, making them operational," said Jamshid Tursunov.
During the reconstruction, Temur Malik Street under the overpass was expanded from four to six lanes. Exits from the Buyuk ipak yuli Road were added, and U-turns were created both on the overpass itself and at the exit intersections.
For the first time in the country, an overpass with a prefabricated iron structure was constructed. According to Jamshid Tursunov, the advantages of such an overpass compared to traditional concrete and monolithic structures are that it is 2.5 to 3 times lighter, 30% cheaper, has operating costs that are 4 to 5 times lower, and its service life is 100-120 years.
"Previously, 25,000 vehicles passed through in one day. Now, after constructing the new structure, more than 50,000 vehicles can move without any obstacles," said the head of the committee.
