Citizen criticizing gas station conditions in Tashkent arrested

38172A video circulating on social media recently showed a citizen criticizing the conditions at gas stations and addressing higher authorities. Following the incident, the Bektemir District Court on criminal cases in Tashkent sentenced the individual to 15 days of administrative imprisonment. QALAMPIR.UZ reviewed the court documents.
According to the court’s decision, the individual, identified as G.D., insulted employees at a gas station in the Bektemir district on December 23, 2024. This act was deemed to have violated public order and constituted petty hooliganism.
During the court hearing, G.D. admitted that on December 23, 2024, while waiting in line at the Morotrans LLC gas station located on 2 Oltintopgan Street, Bektemir neighborhood, Tashkent, he became angry over the station’s closure. In frustration, he verbally insulted the staff. G.D. expressed regret for his actions, promised not to repeat such behavior, and asked the court for leniency.
The court’s decision was supported by evidence, including a complaint from the gas station employees, explanatory letters, an inspection report of the video posted on Instagram, and other relevant documents.
G.D. was found guilty of violating Article 183 of the Code of Administrative Responsibility of the Republic of Uzbekistan. He was sentenced to 15 days of administrative imprisonment, effective from December 26, 2024, at 14:20.
Additionally, after serving the sentence, G.D. is required to pay 15% of the base calculation amount per day of detention, amounting to 843,000 sums, to the "Labour" department of the Mortgage Bank.
