Bus driver fired for demanding cash from passengers in Tashkent

4164A bus driver in Tashkent has been fired for demanding cash from passengers while turning off the bus lights. This was reported by the press service of “Tashshahartranskhizmat” JSC.
The incident occurred on March 13, when the driver of a bus on route No. 72, along with a citizen unfamiliar with the industry, asked passengers to pay the fare in cash while traveling at 19:50. The bus lights were turned off during the exchange.
On March 14, an urgent meeting was held with the director of the “2nd Bus Palace” branch, J.L. Mannopov, along with responsible employees, route drivers, and the driver of route No. 72, J.H. During the meeting, the violation was discussed, and the employment contract with the driver was terminated due to a gross violation of the company’s internal discipline.
Additionally, a package of documents was submitted to law enforcement agencies for a legal assessment of the violation committed by the driver.
It is important to note that, under a resolution by the Tashkent city mayor dated December 13, 2024, cash payments for bus fares will no longer be accepted in Tashkent from January 1, 2025. Passengers are required to use electronic payment methods when paying fares on public transport.
