Prosecutor's office investigator in Tashkent was allegedly caught for taking a bribe

A prosecutor's office investigator from the Almazar district of Tashkent has reportedly been caught accepting a bribe. This information was shared by Rasul Kusherbayev, an advisor to the Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change, as well as a public activist.  

According to reports, during an operational-search operation, S., a senior investigator at the Almazar district prosecutor's office, was detained with material evidence while receiving $20,000 of an agreed $30,000 bribe.  

A criminal case has been opened against the investigator under Part 3, Clause "a" of Article 210 (Bribery) of the Criminal Code. A preventive measure in the form of detention has also been applied.  

It is worth recalling that earlier, the deputy governor of Chirchik city in the Tashkent region was apprehended while accepting a $1 million bribe. He was accused of abusing his official position to facilitate a $40 million investment in a cluster-type shopping complex, auction off 20 hectares of government reserve land, and receive $2 million in advance through his driver in exchange for assistance in formalizing a 49-year lease on the property.
