Mother in Almalyk burns 8-year-old son's hands for eating sweets without permission

5933Reports have surfaced on social media about a disturbing incident in Almalyk, Tashkent region, where a mother burned her 8-year-old son’s hands as punishment for eating sweets without permission. The Children's Ombudsman has provided details on the case.
The incident took place on October 30, 2024. A woman identified as X.A., born in 1991, burned her son B.A. between his fingers and on other parts of his body using cotton wool. As a result, the child suffered first- and second-degree burns, classified as minor injuries.
The Almalyk City Police Department launched a criminal case against X.A. under Part 2, Clause “a” of Article 110 (torture) of the Criminal Code and declared her wanted after she went into hiding. On February 7, she was detained and placed under arrest following a court ruling.
If found guilty, X.A. faces a sentence ranging from 360 to 480 hours of community service, 2 to 3 years of correctional labor, 2 to 5 years of restricted liberty, or up to 5 years of imprisonment.
Earlier, a similar case was reported in Chirchik, Tashkent region, where a 4-year-old girl died after being brutally beaten by her mother. The suspect in that case was also placed under arrest.
