4597In Tashkent, several women were caught begging on the streets while falsely claiming to be "urbanization employees" and asking for money from car owners. This was reported by the Chilonzor district administration.
A video shared by the administration shows individuals, dressed as urbanization workers, approaching drivers at intersections. They were asked by officials to stop begging while pretending to be employees of the Urbanization Department.
When an official from the district administration confronted the women, they claimed to work for the Urbanization Department of the Almazar district administration. To verify this, the head of the Urbanization Department was contacted. It was soon discovered that no such employees existed within the department.
The women later admitted to being impostors and explained that they had no other means of earning money, which led them to resort to begging while posing as city workers.
It’s important to note that according to Article 188-3 of the Code of Administrative Responsibility and Article 127-1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan, begging is illegal and punishable by law.
This follows previous incidents in the Yunusabad and Yangihayot districts, where individuals found begging were penalized under Article 188-3 of the Code of Administrative Responsibility.
