11987A father-in-law in Tashkent was sentenced to five days of administrative detention for harassing his daughter-in-law. Aziz Obidov, the press secretary of the Supreme Court, provided details of the case.
The incident occurred on November 10, when the father-in-law, taking advantage of an empty home, made inappropriate sexual comments and used obscene language toward his daughter-in-law. In response, the woman reported the matter to law enforcement authorities.
During the court proceedings, the father-in-law partially admitted to his misconduct and requested a fair judgment.
The Uchtepa District Criminal Court found him guilty under Article 41-1 (Sexual Profanity), Part 1, of the Code of Administrative Responsibility. He was sentenced to five days of imprisonment and fined 375,000 soums, equivalent to the Basic Calculation Amount (BCA).
In a related case earlier in Khorezm’s Koshkopir district, another father-in-law was accused of sexually harassing his daughter-in-law while she was driving an electric scooter. He denied the allegations in court, claiming he was intoxicated at the time and could not recall his actions. Despite his denial, the court found him guilty under the same article and sentenced him to four days of administrative detention.
