A man was detained at Tashkent International Airport while attempting to illegally bring nine iPhone 17 smartphones into the country, the press service of the specialized customs complex ’’Tashkent-AERO’’ reported.

According to the information, an Uzbek citizen arriving on the Doha–Tashkent flight chose to pass through the airport’s ’’green corridor.’’ After being stopped and screened, his luggage was found to contain undeclared goods. The inspection revealed nine iPhone 17 smartphones, with an estimated initial value of 230 million soums, which had not been declared in the customs form. The devices were seized as evidence of the violation.

According to the report, relevant procedural documents have been drawn up against the individual, and customs investigative actions are currently underway.

The individuals arriving by air are allowed to bring in up to two mobile devices for personal use. These devices must be declared in the passenger’s customs form. The declaration also serves as the basis for registering the mobile devices in the UzIMEI system.

It is worth noting that earlier, at the ’’Navoi’’ border customs post in the Tashkent region, individuals attempting to smuggle 180 iPhone devices hidden among their bodies and luggage were detained.
