A workout area has been installed at a bus stop near the car market in Tashkent’s Sergeli district, where 12 bus routes pass through. The Traffic Management Center of Tashkent reported this.
According to the report, the bus stop area has been equipped with sports equipment designed for short physical exercises.
“This approach shows that urban infrastructure is being created not only for mobility, but also for the convenience, health and daily well-being of residents. Passengers can now use the time they spend waiting for a bus for light exercises, pull-ups or simple physical activity,” the Center said.
It was noted that similar solutions can also be found in other cities. In particular, in Seoul, Beijing, Singapore, Paris, Bogota and Cali, bus pavilions have been turned into small activity zones equipped with pull-up bars, steps and other sports equipment.
According to the Traffic Management Center, such facilities will be installed at specific locations — primarily in densely populated areas, at stops with busy route networks and in places with enough space to safely separate waiting and activity zones. The main conditions for creating sports areas include safety, passenger convenience, durable structures, regular maintenance and ensuring they do not interfere with public transport or pedestrian movement.
It was emphasized that prioritizing public transport is one of the main tasks of the capital’s administration, and this work includes not only new routes and lanes, but also a range of additional measures.
“We are open to suggestions and are ready to consider new locations where such workout stops would be genuinely useful and necessary, as well as the types of equipment to be installed there,” the statement said.
The public was also told that if they know locations with active passenger flow and enough space to safely install such areas, they can send their suggestions to the @codd_tashkent_bot Telegram bot.
Earlier, it was reported that shops at bus stops in Tashkent had been removed.
