A resident of Tashkent was detained for storing hashish valued at 4 billion 317 million soums. The city's Main Department of Internal Affairs reported this as part of an ongoing crackdown on drug trafficking.

According to the statement, the Tashkent City Department of Internal Affairs and the State Security Service are conducting several targeted operations to combat large-scale drug distribution in the capital. During one such raid in the Yakkasaroy district, law enforcement officers detained an individual named Ivan. A search of his apartment, conducted in the presence of witnesses, uncovered a significant stash of drugs.

Authorities found brick-shaped brown substances with a strong odor and waxy substances wrapped in transparent polyethylene bags with magnets, each sealed in red and blue wrappers. These packages contained hashish, which the suspect had allegedly purchased online, divided into grams, and then distributed.

"The hashish was packed in transparent 1-gram and 0.5-gram packages, sealed with magnets, and wrapped in insulating tape. The drugs were placed at specific locations using a Telegram bot for distribution," the report detailed.

In total, 8 kilograms and 303 grams of hashish were seized, with an estimated street value of 4 billion 317 million soums.

"A criminal case has been initiated under Part 5 of Article 273 of the Criminal Code, and the suspect has been taken into custody. If found guilty, he could face up to 20 years in prison," the report states.

It should be recalled that earlier, eight individuals were arrested in the Fergana region for involvement in heroin trafficking during another anti-drug operation.
